Ashling Murphy, a 23-year-old girl, was killed near the Grand Canal's banks.
She was killed while jogging along the banks of the Grand Canal in Tullamore, County Offaly.
According to a post-mortem investigation, a primary school teacher in Ireland was strangled to death. Officers believe she battled valiantly, but they believe she was harassed before she died.
Meanwhile, many people, including Taoiseach Micheal Martin, attended a vigil for Murphy at Leinster House in Dublin on Friday afternoon.
